Press Release Program Management of a Body in White Mercedes Program

Oxford Automotive was awarded the complete underbody programs for 2 new Mercedes vehicles to be built in Vance, Alabama for model year 2005. In order to meet the quality and financial goals fo this program, Oxford elected to manage this program utilizing some rather unique program management concepts. Paul Bazely President, Integrated Program Management, Was retained to manage the pre-program portion of this program along with the assembly and ship responsibilities for the entire project. Mercedes has a relatively long and important pre-program build, commonly referred to within Mercedes as the "Null Series Build." This is a build of completed cars in Sindelfingen, Germany, simulating the Mercedes body shop, where the supplieres on the program supply completed shipping units over an 8 month timeframe. This timing is broken down into 5 quaility loops, where the supplier is expected to improve the overal quality of their shipping units until they reach "green" status.

When I leared that Paul Bazely, who i have known for many years, had started Intergrated Program Managment AZ Automtoive Londer had been awarded a large contract by one of its most important customers. This major launch included the building of our largest edling line and the subsequnt development of the welded assembly, In this case, the rear rails for a GM Crossover Vehicle. AZ Automotive is extremely lean and did not have enough internal resources to handle every asppect of program management for this launch. Other qualities that impressed me are Paul's ability to interface both with company executives and personnel on the floor. he is very honest and reliable. AZ typically does not like hiring pepople from outside, but Paul certainly impress us with his knolwedge and work ethics. While there are only few people that I would give high recommendations for, Paul is defintely one of such person. I would not hesitiate in the least to act as reference for Paul and his company.
